Paul Mealor is a Vice President of the North Wales International Music Festival. He was born in St. Asaph and received composition tuition from the founder of the Festival, composer William Mathias. William Mathias established the Festival at the Cathedral, one of the smallest in the ancient kingdom, because of its superb acoustics.

Paul Mealor broke records by being the first classical composer to hold both the classical and pop chart No 1’s at the same time in December 2011, securing the UK Christmas No 1 with his piece for The Military Wives Choir and Gareth Malone, Wherever You Are. Paul was catapulted to international stardom in April 2011, when 2.5 billion people (the largest audience in broadcasting history) heard his Motet, Ubi caritas performed at the Royal Wedding Ceremony of TRH The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge at Westminster Abbey.

Mae Paul Mealor yn Is-lywydd Gŵyl Gerdd Ryngwladol Gogledd Cymru. Fe’i ganwyd yn Llanelwy ac fe dderbyniodd hyfforddiant cyfansoddi gan William Mathias, sef sylfaenydd yr Ŵyl. Sefydlwyd yr Ŵyl yn y Gadeirlan, un o’r lleiaf yn y deyrnas hynafol, gan fod iddi acwsteg gwych.

Ym mis Rhagfyr 2011, Paul Mealor oedd y cyfansoddwr clasurol cyntaf i gyrraedd Rhif 1 yn y siartiau clasurol a pop ar yr un pryd gyda’i ddarn “Wherever You Are” i gôr y “Military Wives” a’u harweinydd Gareth Malone. Fe ddaeth Paul yn seren ryngwladol yn Ebrill 2011 pan glywodd 2.5 biliwn o wrandawyr ( y gynulleidfa fwyaf yn hanes darlledu) ei Motet, Ubi caritas, yn cael ei berfformio yn seremoni priodas Dug a Duges Caergrawnt yn Abaty Westminster.
